According to Luis Miguelsanz’s report in SPORT, it has come to light that Jonathan David’s dream of wearing the Blaugrana shirt may be slipping away as he enters advanced negotiations with Inter Milan and Juventus.

Despite his public declarations of a desire to play for Barcelona, the club’s reluctance to make a concrete move has left David searching for other options.

As quoted by the journalist, the Canadian has waited patiently for an approach from the Catalan giants, but with no significant progress made, he has turned his attention to other suitors.

Serie A move likely?

As such, both Inter Milan and Juventus are prepared to meet his economic demands, something Barcelona appear unwilling or unable to do.

This is because the financial package required to secure David’s services, including a four-year contract, commissions, and a signing bonus, is estimated to exceed €60 million.

For a club struggling with financial limitations, such a commitment seems out of reach, especially for a player they do not consider a perfect fit for their sporting plans.

The West Ham option is ruled out

Additionally, West Ham had previously attempted to lure David with a lucrative offer, but the striker is determined to join a club competing in European competitions.

From a Barcelona perspective, the decision to pass on David seems to be a combination of financial strain and tactical considerations.

While the Blaugrana have monitored his progress for months, they appear unconvinced that he would be the ideal reinforcement to bolster their attack.

David’s potential move to Serie A would be a significant blow to Barcelona’s long-term plans, particularly considering his willingness to join the club.

However, with a €60 million commitment seemingly too steep, the Catalans are likely to look for other options that better fit their budget and tactical requirements.
