Another revelation in Sheffield Wednesday supporters' hopes of a takeover has come to light
Yet another revelation has come to light regarding the ongoing saga at Sheffield Wednesday involving controversial owner, Dejphon Chansiri.
It has been reported by Alan Nixon - via his Patreon service - on Sunday morning that the Wednesday chairman is looking to mount a significant sum of funds to pay off an outstanding loan and the remainder of the Steel City club's annual wage bill over agreeing a potential takeover amid recent developments involving former Lyon and Crystal Palace stakeholder, John Textor.
Despite the continued uncertainty when it comes to off-pitch matters, the Owls were unbeaten in three Championship matches before being blown away 5-0 by league leaders Coventry City at Hillsborough on Saturday lunchtime - a game which included the latest round of protests in S6 towards the aforementioned Chansiri.
The weekend's result, albeit being one many outsiders would've predicted, has summed up what has been yet another dark week for Henrik Pedersen's outfit amid reports of a pending points deduction and the delaying of weekly wage packets for the fifth time in six months.
And, with the previously mentioned developments involving Textor hardly good news for supporters, Nixon's latest report will only add to the significant worries all associated with the South Yorkshire side have over its immediate and long-term future.
It was reported last month that the club were required to pay an outstanding £7.3m loan or face the threat of administration and a second 12-point penalty within Chansiri's tenure, with the last coming in 2020 after a breach of spending regulations.
With Pedersen left with a threadbare squad after a mass exodus in pre-season and EFL sanctions such as transfer and registration embargoes and fee restrictions, Chansiri was reported to still be seeking approximately £100m for the cash-strapped Owls.
On Thursday, it was claimed that the Thai businessman could potentially drop his asking price down to £70m, although Textor is believed to be dissatisfied with such figures still, as the American remains heavily linked with a takeover of the club.
Nixon's latest report states that Chansiri is "ignoring" any negotiations which come his way at this moment in time in a bid to pay off the aforementioned loan and the remainder of the club's yearly wage bill as a result of continuously delayed wages for senior players and staff.
It is also claimed that no funds have been demonstrated by Textor, whilst the second tier side face an anxious wait for a tax bill that could potentially begin action that winds the club up.
Nixon adds that administration could be the course of action as a result, especially if the club is capable of paying off the funds which remain owed to HMRC at present.
Despite the uncertainty, which has been backed up in revelations from the likes of club captain, Barry Bannan, Pedersen and his players have been the subject of mass plaudits for the way they have conducted themselves on the pitch.
However, a looming penalty would come as the biggest crushing blow yet, as they look to preserve their Championship status against all the odds.
Unsurprisingly, the atmosphere at Hillsborough right now continues to be one of toxicity and apathy, with several instances on social media of division amongst the fanbase as individual supporters protest in the manner in which they see fit. Some boycott home fixtures full-stop, whilst others who had already purchased their season ticket before the beginning of the saga refuse to spend any further money at Hillsborough on matchdays.
In order for the club to progress forward, a takeover remains the only solution, and with Chansiri continuing to hold a rather bullish stance, the only way for him to relinquish control could be through the newly-introduced Independent Football Regulator, who have the power to remove owners from their position.
