A few players have spoken to the media now after Chelsea’s surprise manager change last week, and the latest was Jorrel Hato, who has some quotes on the club’s official website about the appointment of Liam Rosenior as the new manager.

“Everyone is excited to work with the new coach and the new energy he brings,” Hato said.

“It has been a difficult time, changing managers and the last couple of games we didn’t win, but now with the new manager we have a fresh start for everyone.

“I have a lot of faith in my team-mates and in the new manager to be better and win these games. He spoke to us about the winning mentality, so we’re looking forward to getting started.”

Hato was one of the players who simply wasn’t fancied by Enzo Maresca after his summer arrival for whatever reason. He will be hopeful that a new manager brings new opportunities for him. Marc Cucurella’s suspension this weekend means an almost guaranteed start for the Dutchman, who will get a first chance to impress Liam Rosenior.

It’s vital that he improves and becomes a trusted alternative to Cucurella – that’s what he was bought for, and so far he’s not provided that to the team. If Rosenior can quickly get him up to speed, that will be an easy win for his early days as manager.

In other news…

Leo Castledine is about to join Middlesbrough on a permanent deal after impressing so much on loan with Huddersfield in League One.

Apart from that, Chelsea aren’t going to do much business in January by the sounds of things – but they have already forked out for one new addition this month.
