Reports from Brazil have now seemingly confirmed earlier claims of Manchester City interest in Galatasaray’s star central midfielder, Gabriel Sara.

The former Premier League champions are believed to be focussing plenty of attention on the midfield roles this summer having already confirmed one major exit from Pep Guardiola’s long-standing central ranks.

Following discussions between all parties, a decision was made by Manchester City to release Kevin De Bruyne at the end of the ongoing season, opting not to extend the agreement with the Belgian that expires this summer.

As such, the likes of incoming sporting director Hugo Viana and his soon-to-be predecessor Txiki Begiristain have the mammoth task of sourcing a direct replacement, whilst also bolstering a midfield that has been short of legs at various points of a difficult ongoing season.

Among the names to have been linked with Manchester City interest this week is former Norwich City and EFL Championship Team of the Season star Gabriel Sara, who is now excelling in the Turkish game following an €18 million exit from Carrow Road last summer.

Now, according to the information of UOL’s Andre Hernan, Manchester City have indeed made contact to seek information on Sara, who is also said to be attracting attention from other top European clubs.

It is detailed that the 25-year-old’s versatility across the midfield roles appeals to Etihad Stadium officials, who have now placed the player on their transfer radar for the upcoming summer market.

However, at this stage, it is stressed that Manchester City’s interest in the player has been nothing more than an enquiry.

Manchester City have been linked with a whole host of central midfield names from across European football over the last few weeks and months, and such reports are only expected to intensify as the transfer window edges closer.

The priority target in attacking midfield appears to remain the same despite little to no public progress being played out in the media, as Manchester City continue to hold an ambitious aim of securing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

Elsewhere and club officials are also understood to be targeting big-money deals for FC Porto and Portugal international goalkeeper Diogo Costa, while interest in Juventus and Italy’s Andrea Cambiaso could yet be reignited this summer after enquiries in January.
