Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt are both doubts for the weekend. The central defenders are feeling the effects of the battling display over the Glaswegians.

Mason Mount and Luke Shaw are still in rehabilitation for their respective injuries but Victor Lindelof has participated in training over the last week.

Meanwhile, Fulham comfortably beat Leicester City in a 2-0 victory last Saturday.

Marco Silva has almost a full squad at his disposal with only Kenny Tete and Reiss Nelson expected to miss out. Tete is projected to return in late February while Nelson needs a few more weeks to recover from a hamstring strain.

Form

Fulham: DDWLW

Although Fulham have only lost once in their last eleven matches, they have picked up just three league victories in that run.

Frustrating home draws against Southampton and Ipswich Town have overshadowed what has otherwise been a very positive period. The Cottagers have been unable to convert draws into wins which is reflected in their nine stalemates. The start to 2025 has been inconsistent with a 3-2 defeat at West Ham preceding a routine victory away to Leicester.

Marco Silva and his players travel to Wigan Athletic in the fourth round of the FA Cup in a fortnight. They advanced into the next stage after dismantling Watford in a 4-1 win at Craven Cottage.

The Red Devils picked up a crucial three points against Rangers in the dying embers of Thursday night’s Europa League clash.

Cyriel Dessers had cancelled out Jack Butland’s own goal in the 88th minute, only for Bruno Fernandes to smash in the winner in the second minute of stoppage time.

United remain unbeaten in Europe and will advance into the last 16 of the competition if they beat FCSB on Thursday.

That result softened the hostile mood after an abject 3-1 home defeat to Brighton on the weekend. Ruben Amorim was furious after United’s sixth defeat at Old Trafford this term meant they dropped into 13th position.

Last Meeting: Manchester United 1-0 Fulham, Premier League, 16th August 2024

Joshua Zirkzee’s dream debut helped Manchester United to a perfect start to their Premier League campaign.

The contest was played at a pedestrian pace, with both teams struggling to adapt after pre-season.

Full-back Kenny Tete tried his luck from distance, but Andre Onana palmed the strike over with an elastic save. Bernd Leno then atoned for a misplaced pass that created an opportunity for Bruno Fernandes by smothering the Portuguese’s effort.

The German stopper denied Fernandes again moments later after incisive football from the hosts.

The second half was bereft of clear-cut chances until the 87th minute when Zirkzee announced himself at the Stretford End. Alejandro Garnacho’s cross was flicked into the bottom corner by the Dutchman – who wheeled off in celebration.

Garnacho should have wrapped up the points in stoppage time but the winger dragged a shot wide with the goal gaping. Erik ten Hag may have commenced the campaign with success but by October the 54-year-old had been relieved of his duties.
