Chivas did it! With the full support of the Nación Rojiblanca, which packed and energized the Fortaleza Rojiblanca on Saturday night, Guadalajara lived up to expectations and, after thrashing Puebla 5-0, reached two new historic milestones for the club: recording 11 wins in a short tournament and extending their unbeaten streak at Estadio Akron to 12 matches. The result against La Franja, corresponding to Matchday 15 of the Clausura 2026, will go down in history, as Gabriel Milito’s side surpassed what was achieved in Clausura 2023, Bicentenario 2010, Clausura 2004, and Invierno 1998, when the team recorded 10 wins in a single campaign. Saturday’s victory marked their 11th win in the current league season, with three matches still remaining on the schedule. The second record broken relates to the unbeaten streak at Estadio Akron. The previous mark stood at 11 matches (6 wins and 5 draws), set in 2017 under Matías Almeyda. The win over Puebla allowed Chivas to reach 12 consecutive home matches without defeat, this time with a much higher efficiency rate: 10 wins and 2 draws, yielding an 83% success rate, surpassing the previous 69%. As if that weren’t enough, the team is on the verge of breaking another record. With the three points earned on Saturday, Chivas reached 34 points in Clausura 2026, matching the club’s totals from Clausura 2023, Clausura 2004, Invierno 1998, and Verano 1997. Notably, in all four previous instances when the team reached that mark, they went on to play in the Liga MX Final. The team’s attacking power has also been a major talking point this semester. Following Saturday’s rout, El Rebaño Sagrado reached 33 goals and is now just one away from equaling Chivas’ record for goals scored in a short tournament (34), achieved twice before: in Apertura 2004—the first tournament played with 17 matchdays—and Invierno 1998, when the schedule still featured 19 matches. The moment couldn’t be better, and all the statistical milestones achieved so far are the result of a sporting project moving in the right direction. The strength shown at the La Casa de los Mexicanos combined with strong performances and consistent results, is no coincidence—it reflects Gabriel Milito’s leadership and his ability to elevate the squad.
