The winter transfer window is heating up, and Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman finds himself once again at the center of a swirling storm of speculation. After a summer where his departure from Atalanta was highly anticipated but never materialized, the 28-year-old remains a coveted asset as the January window approaches.
Leading the charge, according to journalist Ekrem Konur, is Turkish powerhouse Galatasaray. In a strategic move to navigate Atalanta's hefty asking price of €55-60 million, the club is reportedly crafting an offer for a loan deal with an option to buy. Galatasaray may also hold a unique ace up their sleeve in this pursuit: Victor Osimhen. The former Napoli star is expected to play a pivotal role in persuading his compatriot to join the Turkish champions.
However, the path to signing Lookman is far from clear. Galatasaray is set to face a formidable gauntlet of European rivals also vying for the attacker's signature. The competition is fierce, with clubs like Inter Milan, AS Roma, Napoli, Atletico Madrid, Tottenham, West Ham, and Aston Villa all credited with a strong interest.
Lookman, who is under contract with Atalanta until June 2027 and carries an estimated market value of €40 million, has made 10 appearances across all competitions this season, contributing one goal. As the bidding war looms, his future in Italy appears increasingly uncertain.
