Speaking with AGI about speculation of a return to San Siro on Wednesday, the 81-year-old said: “It’s not true. I’m a Milan fan and I spent 31 years at Milan. I came to San Siro to support and cheer for my team, the club I love. I’ve always done that over the years.

“We sold Milan with Berlusconi in 2017; eight years have passed. I’ve always kept watching Milan, as much as Monza’s matches allowed. It’s not like I just went last Sunday. That’s all.”

Galliani was spotted in the stands at the Stadio Meazza on Sunday night, watching Milan’s 1-0 win over Bologna in Serie A.

The Italian director sat close to Milan CEO Giorgio Furlani, sparking speculation of a possible return to the club.

Galliani is still covering the role of Monza CEO even if the Serie B side changed its ownership over the last few months, shifting from the Berlusconi family to American Fund Becket Layne Ventures.

Reports in Italy had suggested that Galliani could have returned to Milan as an advisor to owner Gerry Cardinale, but the 81-year-old has now clarified that he won’t return for a second spell at Milan.
