Garner ‘very thankful’ to Moyes after receiving first England call up | OneFootball

James Garner credited the management of David Moyes for playing a crucial role in helping him to get called up to the England squad.

The Everton midfielder is part of the 35-man group for the upcoming internationals following an impressive season in the Premier League.

And Garner says Moyes has played a key role in helping him to improve.

“I think since he’s come in, not only me but the club has come leaps and bounds,” Garner said.

“I think that’s only testament to him and his staff and I’m very thankful for the help he has given me.”

Garner says he felt confident he was playing well enough to get a call up and is optimistic he can earn his place at the World Cup this summer.

“Yeah, I think this season I’ve had a very good season,” he said.

“I think that’s why luckily I’ve been able to be called up so I just need to keep up my form and show everyone what I can do and who knows?

“I hoped it would come. Like I said, I’ve felt personally I’ve had a good season and it’s probably the best I’ve played since I’ve started so I was very confident and hoping that I would get the call up.”
