Manchester United legend Gary Neville had plenty to say after the team’s dismal 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

It was a frustrating display to watch, with United taking just two shots in the first hour of the match.

In addition, the defence collapsed, with Man City scoring twice in the second half from quick and easy counter-attacks.

While the team exhibited flaws across the pitch, Neville singled out one man in particular who he believes should shoulder the blame.

Amorim’s stubbornness

“I think there will be some pressure applied to the manager and his rigidity of sticking with the system,” Neville explained, suggesting that Amorim appears unwilling to adapt his game despite his current tactics proving ineffective.

“City have beaten them well and comfortably. United had some good moments in the game – the first 15 minutes and the first five minutes of the second half. City, in big moments, have had better players. Foden, Doku, and Haaland have stood out.”

It was then that Neville truly let rip, pouring his raw emotions out for the world to see.

Neville’s anger unleashed

“There have been times when I have seen United lose this type of match when I feel angry and frustrated,” Neville explained, reflecting on the team’s extensive underperformances.

“I just feel nothing, which is even worse. This has been a nothing of a performance. United have just been beaten.”

“With Chelsea next week, another defeat and big questions would start to be asked,” the former United captain continued, seemingly bracing himself for another potential defeat, this time at Old Trafford.

With two defeats in just four matches, United already seem to be one of the strugglers in the Premier League this season.

Already, it seems as if the club is in for a challenging season, with an early League Cup exit at the hands of Grimsby Town further dampening the mood at Old Trafford.

One cannot help but wonder if Amorim is living on borrowed time, with the manager displaying a clear unwillingness to abandon his strategy, which is clearly not yielding results.
