Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini addressed the media following the team’s 2-0 win over Hellas Verona.
In his post-match interview with DAZN, Gasperini noted, “I was aware of the difficulties several players were having. It was the first time we played three games in a week and you could see the fatigue in some players.”
“We didn’t expect this so we will have to evaluate the situation in the coming games.”
“We had difficulties we’ve never had in other games. Some players who have always been effective and precise had more difficulties today. Verona, when they came up, managed to pass the ball and play with more ease than usual. We suffered more than we should have.”
“Svilar? If Roma’s defensive numbers are like this, there’s a lot of Svilar to thank for it. He’s often the star of the show, and when he’s not making exceptional saves, he’s a reliable player, even in controlling the game and making saves easy. Today he made an incredibly well-timed exit. We have a great goalkeeper.”
“These results are pleasing, but right now we need to evaluate them game by game. We need to focus on growing, building, and improving by recovering more players like Pellegrini, Dovbyk, and Hermoso. We’re also waiting for some injured players to recover. Ziolkowski also made his debut today, and he’s a promising player. There are other players who can help us if we’re struggling so much playing three games a week.”
