Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini commented on the Giallorossi’s winning performance vs Parma.
“We had some difficulties in the first half hour, much to Parma’s credit, but also to our own detriment.”
“Some things probably weren’t clear enough yet. Then we found the right pace, gained consistency in our play, and in the second half we attacked for a long time. In the end, we scored, and the game definitely became easier.”
“We also had some good spaces, although towards the end, after conceding the goal, there were a few moments of concern.”
“What’s striking is definitely the team’s competitive spirit. Even in moments of difficulty, there’s always a strong athleticism that shines through.”
“We’re winning the head-to-head clashes in midfield, and there’s a liveliness that’s noticeable, for example, in Dybala in the second half, something we’ve rarely seen. I’m pleased, but it’s clear he’s doing really well, as is the whole team.”
“Morale is certainly very high, and in that respect the team is going through a great period. As for the technical aspect, we can always grow and improve, but already this evening we developed some good play patterns, we kept the game going for a long time, and I’d say we’re improving.”
“Today definitely went very well. Moving Mancini to the center-right on this occasion was a huge boost. On the other side, Hermoso is more inclined to come out and play. By centering his position, he also played a very positive role. Now we can rotate these defenders a bit, alternating them based on the game and the opponent’s characteristics.”
“This is very useful for me, and is a great asset for the entire team. The same goes for Celik, who sometimes plays as a defender, sometimes as a fifth, and does it very well. He’s a solid and positive foundation for the team, very strong, along with the midfield. We’re slowly finding resources in attack too, like the performances of Dybala, but also Soule. We’re growing in this area. Until recently, we lacked a bit of incisiveness, but now we’re making up for it better.”
“Bailey? He’s a guy we put on the pitch a little prematurely. He needs a little more finesse, maybe an extra week or two. He’s been out for a long time. I played him against Inter, it was a special debut.”
“On Sunday against Sassuolo, he started. After such a long time, he may have recovered well, even physically, but he was definitely struggling. He wasn’t the usual Bailey, who sprints and is quick. So, probably, he was taking risks. I preferred to manage him this way.”
