After leading Roma to a momentary first place in the table, Gian Piero Gasperini remains true to his style: feet firmly on the ground.
After the last round’s victory, the coach preferred to avoid talking about long-term goals, while still exuding satisfaction and optimism.
“Talking about objectives now makes no sense,” Gasperini declared. “What matters is continuing to improve and making the people who follow us with such passion happy.”
Their deserved top spot in the standings sends a strong message: Roma is there, they’re solid, and they can handle even difficult moments. Gasperini knows this well and doesn’t hide his pride for a result that allows them to face the break with a smile.
And yet, when someone mentioned the Scudetto, even Gasperini lets himself go: “It’s right for the fans to dream; you should never take away their dreams in a moment of happiness. Arriving at the break in the lead is a source of pride. The percentages? We’ll talk about that later; the season is still long.”
