Niccolò Pisilli is expected to remain at Roma.
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the Italy Under-21 midfielder will remain at Trigoria for the second half of the season.
Now that the Africa Cup of Nations is underway and El Aynaoui is busy with Morocco, Pisilli will be the first midfielder to replace Koné and Cristante, and Gasperini has assured him he’ll get more playing time.
The young Giallorossi player remains highly interested by several Serie A clubs, including Cagliari and De Rossi’s Genoa, Roma’s next opponent on Monday, December 29th at 8:45 PM.
So far, the only match in which the former Primavera player has started was the Europa League match against Celtic.
Otherwise, he’s only had a few minutes in Serie A and a few snippets internationally. Increasing his presence on the pitch will likely increase his productivity as well.
This is what Gasperini hopes, as he anticipates a small shakeup of the squad starting in January, with at least four or five signings poised to shake up the team structure and raise the quality of the Giallorossi roster.
