After a dramatic league draw last weekend, Rangers hosted Celtic once again this afternoon. It was a knockout tie at Ibrox, and the disappointment continues for the home side, who dominated the game but endured elimination from the Scottish Cup quarter-final after a defeat in the tie-breakers.

Below are the Rangers players rated in their tie-breaker defeat against Celtic.

Jack Butland: 6

Was hardly tested between the sticks. But the Englishman could not stop any, as the Light Blues suffered a heartbreak on penalties.

Dujon Sterling: 6.5

Has been the preferred right fullback choice since his return from a long injury layoff. Balanced his game between defence and attack. Could have done more, with Celtic posing little threat from their flanks. Was taken off for James Tavernier ahead of the extra time.

Nasser Djiga: 6.5

Was handed a surprise start in deep defence ahead of John Souttar and dominated the duels against the likes of Daizen Maeda and Tomas Cvancara. Souttar was introduced for the final 15 minutes before the tie-breaker.

Emmanuel Fernandez: 7

Found the net early in the extra time, but VAR ruled the goal out for a handball. Maintained his composure in the heart of the backline as the visitors failed to threaten the Gers enough with little attacking moves.

Tuur Rommens: 6.5

Looked sharp with his overlapping runs, crosses and link-up play from the left. Created a few chances for both Youssef Chermiti and Ryan Naderi. Was replaced by Jayden Meghoma late in the first half of the extra time.

Nicolas Raskin: 6.5

Controlled the tempo from the centre of the pitch. But the Belgian should have shown more courage by carrying the ball forward from the deep.

Mohamed Diomande: 5.5

Got the nod over Tochi Chukwuani, but a booking early into the game put him on the edge in this high-voltage encounter. Danny Rohl replaced him at half-time with his former Nordsjaelland teammate.

Andreas Skov Olsen: 5.5

The Danish wideman had a disappointing afternoon, as he failed to leave an impact down the right-hand flank before making way for Djeidi Gassama midway through the second half.

Mikey Moore: 6.5

Started the game brightly with his dribbling, cut-insides and swift footwork from the left. Ran out of ideas with time, and the gaffer took him off for Nedim Bajrami late in the second half.

Ryan Naderi: 6

Worked hard to play his part in the attacking build-ups. Often changed his role, thus allowing Rohl to tweak his formation. But the young German failed to convert the chances he had up top. Converted from the spot in the tie-breakers, but it was not enough to secure a victory.

Youssef Chermiti: 6

Was closely monitored by Auston Trusty throughout the game, as the Portuguese hitman failed to replicate his impact of the past two derby outings.

Rangers Subs vs Celtic

Tochi Chukwuani: 6.5

Added composure deep down the midfield in their ‘double pivot’ setup.

Djeidi Gassama: 3

Another afternoon of disappointment for the winger, who failed to deliver from the flank and shattered Rangers’ Cup dreams.

Nedim Bajrami: 7

Was lively since his introduction in place of Moore. Scored his spot-kick during the tie-breakers.

James Tavernier: 3

Like Gassama, the skipper not only failed to make a difference down the right but also missed his spot-kick in the tie-breakers.

Jayden Meghoma: 6.5
