Manchester United appear increasingly likely to sign Geovany Quenda this summer.
Back in November, The Peoples Person discussed Man United’s links with the winger, with the club reportedly making contact with his agent.
Last month, David Ornstein confirmed United’s concrete interest in Quenda, reporting that a €40m deal was being explored.
But while United’s interest in Quenda has been long established, the player’s view on joining the club has finally been confirmed.
TEAMtalk revealed this morning that Quenda is interested in moving to Old Trafford, with one key figure influencing his thinking.
“Manchester United have received a huge boost in their pursuit of Geovany Quenda, TEAMtalk understands, with sources telling us that the teenage sensation himself is keen on a move to Old Trafford because of Ruben Amorim, with the chances of the highly-rated wing-back and Patrick Dorgu playing together in the same team revealed,” the report read.
“TEAMtalk understands that Man Utd are also keen on a deal for Quenda in the summer transfer window,” the article continued, confirming the mutual interest shared by both United and Quenda.
“TEAMtalk understands that Man Utd head coach Amorim has been a big driver of the deal. The Portuguese boss worked with his compatriot at Sporting Libson and rates him highly.”
While this latest report speaks volumes about where the player’s mind is at if proven correct, there have been prior hints that Quenda could be interested in joining United.
His youth coach, Bernardo Bruschy, admitted that he expects Quenda to be interested in United due to the sheer size of the club’s reputation.
Bruschy also voiced his confidence in Quenda’s ability to make this move a success, citing the youngster’s maturity and performance on the pitch.
Amorim appears set to take full advantage of his Sporting ties, with United looking to strike a deal for Viktor Gyokeres.
Given the quiet transfer window that United had in January, talented additions such as Quenda will be warmly received by United fans, especially because of the lack of squad depth in both winger and full-back positions.
