In an unprecedented sanction, Gerard Piqué, FC Andorra’s majority shareholder, has been suspended for six matches and disqualified from club roles for two months after incidents following the game against Albacete Balompié. The federation announced that further penalties also apply to the club and senior staff.

Referee Alonso de Ena Wolf reported that several Andorra members confronted him at full time, identifying Piqué among them and describing his behaviour as aggressive and challenging. The RFEF Disciplinary Committee stated that the facts were proven.

The committee said the six games relate to addressing match officials with mild violence under the disciplinary code, while the two-month disqualification covers public acts that offend sporting dignity and decorum.

FC Andorra have been fined €1,500 and the Nou Estadi will face a partial closure for two matches, specifically the presidential box and adjoining VIP areas.

Further sanctions include Cristian Lanzarote, suspended for three matches plus two months, Jaume Nogués, suspended for six matches and disqualified for two months, and Ferrán Vilaseca, suspended for four months.

Although Piqué does not hold a formal position in the club’s structure, the committee decided to punish him in view of the conduct recorded.
