Germany struggled in their last game against Greece, but they started this one with an effective display. Otto Stange started the rout with a powerful strike from a difficult angle. The HSV striker's attempt to celebrate his goal with a somersault was rather unsuccessful, but he doubled Germany’s lead just after the half-hour mark.

Stange, who has now scored in four successive games for Germany U19, got an all-important touch to guide Francis Onyeka’s shot into the net. Onyeka leads the scoring chart in the qualification stage, and he extends his lead with his eighth goal of the campaign before the half-time break.

For their part, Austria also had their chances in an end-to-end half before Ensar Music finally took one of them to promise an exciting second-half. However, Christian Wörns’ side were far more dominant after the restart.

Stange had three clear-cut chances to complete his hat-trick, but Christian Zawieschitzky and the woodwork thwarted him. Onyeka and Montrell Culbreath also came close to extending Germany’s lead before a dramatic end to the game.

Aleksandar Djordjevic scored a few minutes after coming on to warrant another nervy injury-time for Germany U19. However, they held on to a 3-2 win to seal a place in this summer’s tournament in Wales. The six-time winners will be one of the eight teams to participate in the competition that will take place between June 28th and July 11th. Germany were knocked out by Spain in the semi-final of last year's tournament.
