Gerson suffered a knee blow and was forced off during Cruzeiro’s Campeonato Mineiro match against Pouso Alegre, and will undergo medical re-evaluation.

According to Coluna Do Fla, the former Flamengo midfielder left the pitch after taking a knock to his knee.

The contact occurred on 25 minutes of the first half. As Gerson tried to step in front of the play, Gabriel Tota caught his knee in the challenge.

He then lay on the pitch and was substituted. On the bench he showed discomfort in the joint, though he still walked to the dressing room.

Cruzeiro’s medical staff will monitor him closely. The first diagnosis will take place when the squad reconvenes at CT Toca da Raposa.

If tests confirm an injury, he could miss upcoming fixtures, including the Brasileirão meeting with Flamengo on 11 March at the Maracanã.
