Brian Sørensen says that Everton must get their game right if they are to be successful against Manchester United this weekend.

The Blue Girls return to action against The Red Devils at Walton Hall Park on Sunday afternoon. The game comes eight days after Everton were defeated 4-0 at Brighton & Hove Albion.

When speaking in the pre-match press conference, Everton boss Sørensen admitted that his side’s structure was not quite right against Brighton & Hove Albion and that the team have to get their game on point this weekend to have any chance of collecting a result.

“It’s about our own identity and getting the game right,” Sørensen said. “Against Brighton, we didn’t get it right structurally, we were all over the place for various reasons. We need to make sure that we get what we worked on 100% right.

“At the end of the day, we know it’s a big task, United are a very good team and they’ve recruited very well. It’s going to be tough but we will try and play our way and get our game plan right.

“Every time we go into these games, we have a chance. We are not the favourites but we have a chance and that’s what we will go for.”

A new-look Manchester United side opened their season with a 3-0 home victory over West Ham United last time out. Sørensen is expecting to face a slightly different test from The Red Devils this season but he knows plenty about their qualities.

He said “They lost quality players but replaced them with quality players. It’s different types [of player] but we know Grace [Clinton] from being here and being at Tottenham also. We know what her qualities are. [Elisabeth] Terland we know from the league also.

“It’s nothing new. It’s quality that they have and we have to be aware of their threats but it’s nothing that we haven’t seen before. They will maybe approach it a bit different but that’s because they have different types of players now.

“We will have to see what they come with. They have different ways that they can approach the game because of the quality that they have. We will have to see what they bring on Sunday.”
