Gian Piero Gasperini in pole position for Juventus job

Gian Piero Gasperini seems set to leave Serie A side Atalanta and while Roma have held a key meeting, Juventus are also in the running.

Giovanni Albanese has reported that Gasperini is currently in pole position to become the next Juve manager and while Igor Tudor’s stock has risen after Antonio Conte’s decision to stay at Napoli, a move for the Atalanta manager is still very much possible.

The belief is that Roma have not closed for the Italian and Gasperini’s final decision could hinge on emotion, as he has previously been at the Bianconeri and coached their youth sides. He knows the club quite well and this can be decisive in the next few days.

Damien Commoli’s appointment is likely to be the driving factor behind this and his ideas can now bring about a fresh approach at a club which is yet to decide as to who their long-term manager will be.
