Gilmar Mendes welcomes Cuca’s return to Santos with enthusiasm

Brazilian Supreme Federal Court justice and declared Santos supporter Gilmar Mendes welcomed Cuca’s return to the club, saying in a post on X on Monday 23 that he was enthusiastic.

Cuca, 63, came back after Juan Pablo Vojvoda was dismissed on Wednesday 18, was announced the next day, then made his debut in a 0-0 draw at Cruzeiro on Sunday 22 in the Brazilian Série A.

The return was cast as a reunion with a professional who has left a significant mark at Santos, with enthusiasm and hope renewed and a warm welcome back to Vila Belmiro.

This is his fourth stint as head coach, following 2008, 2018 and 2020 to 2021. He also represented the club as a player in 1993.

During the 2020 to 2021 spell he finished as Copa Libertadores runner-up.
