Santiago Gimenez is rumored to leave Milan pretty much every other day, with the Premier League seen as the most likely destination, but his camp has come out in full force to silence the chatter.
His agent, Rafaela Pimenta, addressed the murmurs to ESPN Deportes (via Calciomercato).
“He joined last January, when the team wasn’t exactly in first place. I wouldn’t say they were struggling, because it wouldn’t be kind. All the conversations I have had with their management have been positive. They never told me that things weren’t going well. Only the press, which always talks too much, has done that. The officials told me everything was okay also recently. There are many speculations about a January exit. I wouldn’t be surprised if he were coveted in England. It’d be normal for two or three teams to consider him, but the thought of leaving the Rossoneri is nonexistent for us.”
Christian Chaco Gimenez, the father of the striker, doubled down on the Vamos Show podcast (via Mediaset).
“On our part, we don’t want a change of scenery. He’s very happy where he is. He feels like he can become an important player once he’s fit. I don’t meddle with his agent. The truth is that we have never discussed this matter, nor with him, his club, or anybody else.”
Gimenez hasn’t played since late October, as Milan decided to shut him down to allow him to recover fully from an ankle injury that had been bugging him for months. He hadn’t contributed to a goal during his nine Serie A appearances beforehand. The Rossoneri invested €30M to onboard him from Feyenoord last January.
