Girona and Mallorca relegated as Celta and Getafe seal Europe in La Liga finale | OneFootball

Girona and Mallorca were relegated on the final day, joining Oviedo, as La Liga delivered its verdict. Celta Vigo and Getafe secured European football, with third place to be decided between Villarreal and Atlético Madrid on Sunday at 21:00.

Girona, led by Michel, came from behind but were held 1-1 by Elche, confirming the drop. According to L'Équipe, Mallorca beat already-doomed Oviedo 3-0 yet still went down.

Osasuna, level on points with Mallorca, survived. Alavés and Sevilla, just ahead, also preserved their top-flight status.

Already assured of Champions League qualification, Betis edged Levante 2-1. Luis Castro’s side therefore stayed up, unlike Nantes, where he began the season.

Celta finished sixth to clinch a Europa League berth. Getafe ended seventh despite beating Osasuna 1-0, and will enter Europa Conference League qualifying to conclude their spell with José Bordalas in charge.

At full time, jubilant Getafe fans invaded the pitch.
