Jari De Busser has had a fantastic season with Go Ahead Eagles. In recent weeks the goalkeeper has kept five clean sheets in seven matches, and in an interview with ESPN he was keen to reiterate that the five were down to more than just him. De Busser said ‘There have been matches where I only had to save one or two balls. So compliments to Joris (Kramer, ed.) who has been standing there for years and to Julius (Dirksen, ed.) who was recently given that role’.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper also revealed his plans for the future. This is his second season with the club since joining from Lommel, and this summer he hopes to take another step in his career. De Busser told ESPN ‘The club knows it, I know it, and I think the supporters know it by now too’. However, De Busser would also be more than happy to stay in Deventer. If the right move comes along, he will likely take it, but if not, he would ‘happily’ spend another season with the Go Ahead Eagles.
De Busser made 19 appearances for the side last yea, including three during the sides successful KNVB Cup victory. So far this season he has played 42 games across all competitions, including eight in the sides Europa League campaign.
With a handful of games to play, Go Ahead Eagles are unlikely to make a return to Europe. Balancing domestic and European football proved difficult, but the side are safely in 11th.
