FC Bayern’s plans for the coming season are already underway – and there seems to be a clear direction internally, especially in the goalkeeper position
The constellation in which the Munich team will start the new season is still unclear, with the future of Manuel Neuer, whose contract expires at the end of the season, taking center stage
As reported by Sky, FC Bayern’s „priority“ is currently to extend the 40-year-old’s contract once again, with a final decision expected to be made in the coming weeks
Internally, those responsible want to clarify the situation in April. BILD also recently reported that concrete talks would take place after the Champions League quarter-final against Real Madrid
Sporting director Christoph Freund recently described the situation as follows: „There are always talks with Manu. He is currently listening to his body to see whether he feels he can play at this level for another year. There is always an exchange, which is very good. Let’s see what April and May bring. The important thing is what his gut feeling and his body say.“
The decision is therefore primarily up to the veteran himself
Irrespective of this, Bayern already have a clear perspective for the future, with Jonas Urbig already in the squad as a possible successor
The 22-year-old has proven his quality on several occasions this season and has already made 14 appearances for the record champions. Internally, those responsible believe he can follow in Neuer’s footsteps in the long term

The situation behind the two is also open. Sven Ulreich’s contract is also due to expire, and an extension for a further year is possible. The 37-year-old could also remain with the club in another role in the future
Alexander Nübel, on the other hand, who is currently on loan to VfB Stuttgart, could leave FC Bayern in the summer
One thing is clear: the goalkeeper issue remains one of the central topics at Säbener Straße – with a clear priority in focus.
