Gonçalo Feio explains how Kaminski broke the mould before Benfica move | OneFootball

Gonçalo Feio has outlined how Jakub Kaminski progressed in an uncommon way through Polish football as he closes in on a move to Benfica.

"Normally, youngsters come through the B team, then go out on loan for one or two seasons to gain minutes and maturity in the first or second Polish division. Only then do they return to join the first team," said Feio, speaking to Record.

Kaminski’s path differed, with the winger stepping straight from the B team into the seniors. "In his first season, he was used as a left winger in the closing stages of games and still made an impact. The way he came on, the energy he brought, his one v one ability and the verticality he offered when matches were more open gave him great influence and earned him a place in the team the following season."

The Poland international has now arrived in Portugal to finalise his transfer, landing on Monday at Tires Airport.

"I am very happy to be here," he told reporters, adding that he is ready to show his qualities and represent a great club.
