Gonçalo Moreira makes Benfica debut as youngster’s reaction draws attention

Gonçalo Moreira marked his senior Benfica debut in the closing stages of a 2-0 win over Nacional at Estádio da Luz, then shared his joy on social media.

In his post, he described the moment as a dream realised, thanked everyone who helped make it possible, said the work continues, and expressed gratitude.

In his press conference, José Mourinho said the player will be with the first team in the next pre-season, adding he is part of a small elite within Seixal. He also underlined the importance of Benfica B in his development.

This season, the Portugal under-21 international, valued at 1.2 million euros, has played 34 matches across the first team, B team, juniors and under-23s. Across 2,115 minutes he has 18 goals and 10 assists.
