Mohamed Salah is LEAVING Liverpool.

The Egyptian King reached an agreement to rip up his £400k per week contract one year early.

Richard Hughes tied the 33-year-old down to a two-year extension in 2025 but the relationship has run its course with Salah now free to pick his next destination.

It is clear that the Liverpool sporting director as well as new head coach Andoni Iraola want to move in a different direction to Salah.

One-v-one quality out wide is a priority with the outgoing Premier League champions requiring more than they got from the wings during their unsuccessful title defence.

The top candidate to arrive according to Italian transfer supremo Fabrizio Romano is Yan Diomande.

Liverpool pushing hard for Yan Diomande

The 19-year-old has enjoyed a breakout season with RB Leipzig and is set to take a starring role at the FIFA World Cup.

The Cote d’Ivoire emerging star joined Leipzig for £18m last summer from Leganes - inking a deal until 2030. That entitles the Red Bull-owned outfit to call the shots on Diomande’s next move.

Although it’s been reported that the Bundesliga side value the wide forward at €100m there are no guarantees he will be for sale this year.

Liverpool however are pushing hard in the eyes of Romano in order to get this deal over the line - and have cleared the decks in anticipation of his expected arrival.

Liverpool have cleared the decks for Diomande

“He’s wanted by Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain,” Romano said according to GIVEMESPORT.

“Both clubs are still in the mix.

“Liverpool are really pushing, Liverpool are really insisting to make it happen. For Liverpool, he’s a top, top priority. They are offering important money to the player to get it done.

“On the other side, Paris Saint-Germain are also keen but it depends on what happens with Barcola, with Goncalo Ramos and Kang-in Lee.

“There are players that have to leave at PSG, while at Liverpool they’ve already made space with Mo Salah leaving and more players."

Liverpool's advantage over PSG

That hands Liverpool the crucial advantage in the race for Diomande as PSG have got so many moving parts before a deal can be concluded.

It’s not going to be easy to find buyers for their transfer-listed forwards - particularly at the prices quoted by the European champions.

Barcola for example could go for more than Diomande - meaning suitors could be priced out of a move. With Salah’s wages off the books - and his No11 shirt freshly available - Liverpool could soon get the green light to complete a deal for Diomande.
