Kevin Phillips has hailed Enzo Le Fée after the playmaker marked his 50th Sunderland appearance, suggesting international recognition could follow if his form continues. The Frenchman made his loan permanent last summer and, in his debut Premier League campaign, has four goals and five assists.

Speaking to Sunderland Echo, Phillips said: "He’s got great ability, good qualities, and he’s been a massive part of Sunderland’s success since he’s been at the football club." He added: "So if he keeps performing the way he is, then he’s got every chance of doing that."

Phillips felt some were surprised by the fee involved in bringing Le Fée to Wearside, calling it a major coup and praising how quickly he settled. He suggested the next big question is whether he can earn senior international recognition, while stressing the midfielder still has areas to improve.

Head coach Regis Le Bris also commended the 26-year-old after that milestone, noting earlier highs at Lorient and tougher spells at Rennes and then Roma. He highlighted Le Fée’s consistency in the Premier League, his versatility and his readiness to contribute defensively for the team.

Le Bris said the demands of the Premier League make sustained performances especially telling, and described the midfielder as smart, well connected with team-mates and adaptable across positions. Phillips believes the playmaker is a quality performer who can reach the very top if he keeps improving.
