Leeds United lost 3-2 to Championship side Wrexham in their first pre-season friendly in America, a late lapse proving costly at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, chief football writer Graham Smyth issued the player ratings.

Kieffer Moore put Wrexham ahead after 31 seconds, finishing a rapid break. Joel Piroe then struck the post from the spot as United missed the chance to level.

Piroe did equalise with a tap in from a Sean Longstaff cross. Wrexham regained the lead when Bailey Cadamarteri ran through after Joe Rodon failed to win a tackle on halfway.

Leeds made it 2-2 in the 45th minute with a neat Longstaff finish that looked likely to settle it. But Sam Smith capitalised on more poor defending in the 86th minute, driving into the box and beating Lucas Perri.

In Smyth’s ratings, Alex Cairns received five after being beaten three times before the break, while Joe Rodon was given four following errors for the first two goals and then being foxed for the third. James Justin, Alfie Cresswell, Jayden Lienou and Dan James were all marked six.
