Liverpool will lock horns with Newcastle United at St. James’ Park this Monday night as they look to earn maximum points on the road in the Premier League. The Reds managed to secure an impressive 4-2 win against Bournemouth recently, which should give them a lot of confidence ahead of this game.

Arne Slot will once again opt for the 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one change to his first XI for this game. Ryan Gravenberch will be a nailed-on starter for the Merseyside club after missing the opening weekend due to suspension.

Defence

Alisson Becker will feature in between the sticks for the Reds after shipping in a couple of goals in his last outing. Ibrahima Konate will resume his partnership with Virgil Van Dijk at the heart of Slot’s backline as they look to keep things solid at the back during the 90 minutes.

Dominik Szoboszlai might fill in as a makeshift right-back in the absence of Jeremie Frimpong, who will miss this game due to injury. Milos Kerkez will get the nod to start on the other flank as the left-back. Slot will allow both of them to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.

Andrew Robertson will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Alexis Mac Allister will anchor the midfield along with Ryan Gravenberch as they look to move the ball well and engineer some clear-cut chances in the final third.

The gifted trio of Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah will play just ahead of them as part of the Liverpool attack. Wirtz would be eager to put in a good performance against Newcastle after failing to score a goal on his Premier League debut.

Curtis Jones and Wataru Endo will be available for selection on the bench as they wait for their chance to make an impact in the second half if required.

Attack

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Merseyside club up top. The French striker managed to score on his debut and would be eager to keep his good form going this Monday night.

Federico Chiesa will make up the numbers on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the final quarter of the game if needed.
