Grégory Lorenzi was made an honorary citizen of Brest on Wednesday before the rearranged Ligue 1 match with Strasbourg at 19:00, part of matchday 29.
According to L'Équipe, the Brest sporting director, and future sporting director of OM, was recognised after a decade at the club.
Mayor Stéphane Roudaut led the tribute at Stade Francis-Le Blé, presenting the city's medal to the 42-year-old amid warm applause.
Roudaut recalled Lorenzi's strike against Lens in 2009, describing it as one of the club's finest goals.
He also credited Lorenzi with Brest's return to Ligue 1, their third-place finish and a Champions League campaign, and praised his deep bond with the city despite his Corsican roots.
