Grêmio have placed Bento, 26, of Al-Nassr at the top of their goalkeeping shortlist after talks for Weverton stalled, and are exploring a loan in which the Saudi club would cover most of his wages.
Bento joined Al-Nassr from Athletico-PR in July 2024 for €18 million and earns €500,000 per month, a package Grêmio cannot shoulder in full.
Short of opportunities under coach Jorge Jesus, the goalkeeper views a move as strategic to keep his World Cup ambitions alive. He previously worked under Luís Castro in Saudi Arabia.
With Al-Nassr resistant to paying more than half of his salary, a switch to Europe is seen as likelier. West Ham and Genoa have submitted official proposals.
Fabrizio Romano reports that West Ham, currently in the Premier League relegation zone, have lodged a loan bid for Bento.
Al-Riyadhiah writes that the proposal includes a loan with a £10 million option to buy and monthly wages of £100,000.
