Grêmio defender Viery has been charged over his red card in last Saturday’s Gre-Nal at Beira-Rio and could receive up to 12 matches, with the case to be heard by the STJD on Friday.
According to Globo.com, he was cited under article 254-A for physical aggression during a match, a provision covering kicks or blows away from the play that risk causing injury.
The sanction for players ranges from four to 12 games. He will already miss Saturday’s meeting with Cruzeiro due to automatic suspension. The hearing is listed for midday on Friday before the sixth Disciplinary Commission.
Assistant coach Vitor Severino, part of Luís Castro’s staff, will also face judgement after being sent off for dissent in the derby. He was charged under article 258 for conduct contrary to sporting discipline or ethics and could be banned for one to six matches.
On the same day, executive Bárbara Fonseca will be heard by a separate STJD panel over an alleged act of racial injury towards an Internacional supporter. She has also been indicted by the Civil Police in relation to the allegation, which she denies.
