Gian Piero Gasperini has fueled speculation of a possible appointment as the new Roma coach, while Thiago Motta and Maurizio Sarri have been mentioned as his possible replacements at Atalanta.

Gasperini has emerged as the leading candidate to replace Claudio Ranieri at Roma in 2025-26. The Atalanta coach, who already announced he would not extend his contract with La Dea beyond 2026, admitted to being flattered by the Giallorossi’s interest earlier this week.

“We are talking about an extraordinary place with extraordinary fans. I’m proud to be linked to the Giallorossi, but I prefer to focus on the short-term and Atalanta,” Gasperini said on Monday.

According to various Italian sources, including Sky Sport Italia, Ranieri and director Florent Ghisolfi have already talked with Gasperini. The broadcasters add that Gasp is a ‘name on whom everyone agrees’ in the capital.

Gasperini has also been linked with Juventus and Milan, so he’s believed to be in no rush to decide on his next club. But who could replace the 67-year-old at the Gewiss Stadium next season?

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Thiago Motta is a potential candidate for the Atalanta job next season, alongside Maurizio Sarri, Vincenzo Italiano, Igor Tudor, and Francesco Farioli.
