Pep Guardiola says Bernardo Silva remains a big doubt for Sunday’s clash against Liverpool but is unsure how long he will be sidelined for.

The midfielder missed Manchester City’s 3-1 Carabao Cup semi-final second-leg win over Newcastle with a muscle injury, as City set up a final clash with Arsenal.

“I don’t know,” Guardiola said when asked about the severity of Silva’s injury. “Bernardo is special. We’ll see.

“Yesterday he said to me he feels quite good, I want to try, but I don’t know. It’s less dangerous than a hamstring, it’s another type of muscle in the hamstring position.

“We’ll see in the next days. He’s an incredible doubt (for Sunday) but he will try. But right now, I don’t know.”
