Guardiola hails Foden as ‘the heart of the club’ – and says Haaland is better than ever after beating Man Utd | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Phil Foden and Erling Haaland after both players found the back of the net in Manchester City’s 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Haaland scored twice for City after Foden scored the opener after 18 minutes. The Englishman had not scored before this in the Premier League since January.

Guardiola was asked about Foden’s impact: “We missed him so much and the season before he was the best player in the Premier League so we need him, he has a work ethic.

“Phil is the core, the heart of the club, from the academy and he loves City. To have him back is good news.”

Haaland’s goals sealed the win for City today and his manager believes that he is performing at the highest level he has ever performed at.

“Erling has been incredible since the start but this season he is better than ever. I would say better than the Treble year.” he said.

“He’s dynamic and I don’t judge him for the clearance, we want him to score goals and to help us.”

Guardiola’s side have not had the best of starts this season losing both their previous two matches against Brighton and Tottenham but they were showed just how good they can be against United.

“We changed a lot in this transfer window, adding nine players, the core of the team. It is impossible to think about them and achieve what we achieved.” the Spaniard added.

“It is just one game. We did many good things against Tottenham. Today it means a lot, the players were so aggressive. Everyone was like a machine.”
