Gustavo Gómez moved past Gustavo Scarpa in Palmeiras’ 21st-century scoring charts as they won 3-1 at Internacional, staying top of the Brasileirão. The captain’s goal took him to 45 for the club.

Abel Ferreira’s side have seven points from three matches and lead on goal difference of six, level with São Paulo, Bahia and Fluminense. Internacional remain on one point.

Palmeiras host Fluminense in the league on Wednesday 25 February at 21:30 Brasília time at Arena Barueri. Before then, they face Guarani on Sunday 15 February at 20:30 at the same venue to close the Paulista first phase, then a quarter-final on the weekend of 21-22 February with opponents to be confirmed.
