Gustavo Henrique suffers thigh problem, a concern for Santos | OneFootball

Santos midfielder Gustavo Henrique suffered a right thigh problem during the 2-1 defeat to Botafogo in the 19th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro at Estádio Nilton Santos. He left early in the second half.

According to Diario Do Peixe, he pulled up while tracking an opponent and received treatment on the pitch. He was replaced by Christian Oliva eight minutes into the second half.

The setback adds to head coach Cuca's selection problems. The midfielder is due to undergo tests to determine the severity.

Gustavo Henrique has battled muscle issues this season, including left thigh injuries in the first half of the year. The most recent came in the Copa do Brasil first leg against Coritiba, when he departed in the first half looking visibly upset.

Back in January he also suffered a right thigh injury that sidelined him for about one month. His training load has been managed at times through the campaign to reduce the risk of further problems.

Santos' medical staff will now assess the player to define his recovery timeline.
