Gustavo Henrique has been voted Corinthians’ best player of the first half of 2026 after a fan poll, reflecting a team with sturdy defence and stuttering attack. According to Meu Timao, the centre-back topped the vote as the side delivered their best defensive output within the past five years.
Henrique claimed 76.5% of ballots, with midfielder Rodrigo Garro second on 14.8%. The rest of the field featured Matheus Bidu on 2.8%, goalkeeper Hugo Souza on 2.0% and forward Yuri Alberto on 0.6%. The option for others drew 3.3%.
Corinthians have played 37 matches in 2026, conceding 31 goals, an average of 0.84, their best since 2022. With Henrique on the pitch across 30 games, they let in 25, maintaining an average of 0.83. He started throughout a run of seven consecutive clean sheets in April.
The defender has contributed at the other end too, with six goal involvements. His four goals make this the most prolific season of his career to date, placing him third on the club’s scoring chart so far. For comparison, Yuri Alberto has six goals in 29 appearances this year.
Garro’s resurgence under Fernando Diniz also stood out. He has featured in 15 of the new coach’s 16 matches and leads the team with 11 assists from 33 appearances. The playmaker has added two goals in 2026, giving him 13 contributions to the 41 times Corinthians have scored this season.
