Dietmar Hamann sharply criticized FC Bayern after their Champions League exit against PSG, with Vincent Kompany also coming under the spotlight
The semi-final knockout against Paris Saint-Germain continues to haunt Munich. After the 4:5 in the first leg, a 1:1 in the second leg was not enough for FC Bayern to reach the final. The early deficit in particular visibly affected the team, and Harry Kane’s late goal came too late
Hamann was particularly critical of the approach. „Bayern had conceded 14 goals in the previous four games. Then the question is whether I have to try and decide the game for myself in the first 20 minutes. It was a huge euphoria, the city was electrified,“ said the Sky pundit. He then added: „That completely took the wind out of the sails after three minutes. The goal made a huge difference.“

Vincent Kompany also received clear criticism from Hamann. The former Bayern professional openly questioned whether Munich’s attacking style can lead to the big goal at the highest European level: „And that’s a question you have to ask the coach: whether the constant attacking in the opponent’s half can ultimately lead to a Champions League victory. I think the Parisians were better over two games.“
For Hamann, the comparison between the two teams was clear: „If they win 2-0 or 3-0 on Wednesday, nobody can complain. They weren’t just a tick better, they were better in both games,“ explained the 52-year-old
However, the Sky pundit did not stop at criticizing the performance against PSG. With a view to the further development of the squad, he gave the Munich players a clear message: „They have to make sure that they develop as a team and bring in one or two players.“
