Hamburg head coach on Jean-Luc Dompé’s suspension: “Important to learn from your mistakes.” | OneFootball

Hamburg head coach Merlin Polzin has had a chance to comment on attacker Jean-Luc Dompé’s recent suspension for disciplinary reasons. Earlier today it was revealed that Dompé was arrested on Sunday for driving while intoxicated. This was not the 30-year-old’s first offense. Another major legal infraction occurred in February 2023. 

Dompé has been with HSV since 2022 and made 105 total appearances for his current Bundesliga outfit. Some three years ago, Dompé fled the scene of a traffic accident at a bus stop in Hamburg-Hafen  Hamburger SV and Polzin statements both expressed disappointment in the player’s repeated issues.

Polzin’s statement on Jean-Luc Dompé

“There’s naturally great disappointment given my personal relationship with him,” Polzin remarked at his Thursday pre-match press conference. “The decision [to suspend Dompé] was unanimous. Everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is to learn from your mistakes. That’s what we’ve tried to impress upon him.“
