Leeds United’s relegation rivals Tottenham Hotspur have suffered a major setback, with Xavi Simons ruled out for the rest of the season after a knee injury at Wolves.
The club said in a statement that the 23-year-old has ruptured the ACL in his right knee and will have surgery in the coming weeks before beginning rehabilitation with their medical team.

Spurs won 1-0 at Molineux at the weekend, but remained in the drop zone after West Ham also beat Everton.
The Netherlands international had scored and assisted in the previous weekend’s 2-2 draw with Brighton.
Simons described the news as heartbreaking and said he was still trying to process it.
