Kicker report Hannover 96 rejected SC Paderborn’s club-record bid for Daisuke Yokota. The Japanese winger joined the 2. Bundesliga club permanently this summer for €2 million from Gent after a successful loan spell.
Following Paderborn’s promotion to Bundesliga, the club from North Rhine-Westphalia identified the Japanese midfielder as a transfer target. According to Kicker, Hannover have now declined a €2.5 million bid from Paderborn for the 26-year-old.
Yokota scored nine goals in the past two 2. Bundesliga seasons for Kaiserslautern and Hannover. Paderborn have never spent over €1 million on a transfer in their entire history.
Paderborn’s managing director Sebastian Lange also commented on the deal. “It’s just a normal process of sounding out prices. It costs nothing to ask questions, and you’ll get answers that you don’t always like. We’re in a position to make substantial offers. Whether we’ll go ahead with it is another matter. It has to be the right fit.” said the former goalkeeper.
