Hansi Flick ‘halts’ Barcelona youngster’s exit | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has brought the departure of young midfielder Brian Fariñas to a halt, for the time being.

The name of Spaniard Fariñas had emerged as a prominent one in the boardroom at the Spotify Camp Nou over the course of the last week.

This came after Barcelona’s Catalan rivals Girona kickstarted a concerted push to bring the 20-year-old to the Estadi Montilivi on a permanent basis.

Fariñas is for his part fresh off a fine campaign wih Barca Atlètic, culminating in 12 direct goal contributions in 33 league appearances.

Girona, in turn, earmarked the starlet as the ideal addition to their engine room ranks, with transfer negotiations between the parties having been considered as close to complete early this week.

As alluded to above, however, at the last minute, Hansi Flick has intervened in the situation…

As per a report from market insider Matteo Moretto, citing journalist Nil Sola:

‘Barcelona have temporarily halted the transfer of Brian Fariñas to Girona. Hansi Flick wants to test the player on the pitch. Girona remains awaiting new indications regarding the future of the midfielder.’
