According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has made a subtle yet significant change in the team’s training schedule ahead of their upcoming UEFA Champions League encounter with Club Brugge.

The adjustment, though small, is part of Flick’s minute attention to detail and his desire to maintain rhythm and control in the build-up to a crucial European fixture.

Instead of following the traditional format of conducting their final training session at the opposition’s stadium, Barcelona will hold their last session at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper before flying out.

The outlet mentions that the team will train in Sant Joan Despi on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., at Camp Tito Vilanova, where they usually work daily.

Breaking the norm

This means the players will not train in Bruges on Tuesday afternoon, breaking slightly from the norm.

Normally, teams arriving for European matches use that evening session to get a feel for the stadium and pitch conditions.

However, Flick prefers to keep the group in familiar surroundings, where he can control every aspect of preparation, ranging from tactical drills to the mental focus needed before a high-stakes away game.

After wrapping up the morning session in Barcelona, the squad will fly to Brussels. Once they arrive, the players will check into their hotel to rest and prepare for matchday.

Later in the evening, Flick and one player will attend the pre-match press conference at the Jan Breydel Stadium, fulfilling UEFA’s media obligations.

This small tweak in routine is not without purpose. By staying at Ciutat Esportiva for the final session, it appears that Flick wants to ensure his players train in optimal conditions with no distractions.
