Hansi Flick provides injury update on Barcelona star after Espanyol scare | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has provided an update on the wellbeing of defensive star Gerard Martín.

This comes after the Spaniard sparked concern across the Blaugrana fanbase.

Hansi Flick’s troops marked their return to action a short time ago, playing host to Espanyol in a Catalan Derby clash.

En route to an eventual 4-1 triumph, however, the aforementioned Martín failed to emerge for the 2nd-half.

This development gave rise to immediate chatter surrounding a potential incoming spell on the sidelines for the versatile defender.

Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle at the Spotify Camp Nou, Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on Martín’s wellbeing.

And ahead of Barca’s Champions League 2nd leg showdown with Atlético Madrid next week, the German’s update proved to be an encouraging one.

Speaking to DAZN, as cited by journalist Gerard Romero, Flick assured:

“Gerard Martín will be able to play on Tuesday.”
