Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has forwarded a message the way of the club’s supporters, on the back of their first defeat of the season on Thursday night.

Barca, of course, were put to the sword on the continent yesterday evening.

After making the trip to the Stade Louis II for a Champions League meeting with AS Monaco, the Blaugrana were ultimately put to the sword by two goals to one.

As much came after Eric García’s early red card was soon followed by a Maghnes Akliouche opener, before youngster George Ilenikhena ensured that Lamine Yamal’s equaliser proved to be little more than a consolation come the full-time whistle.

Post-match, those of a Barcelona persuasion, in turn, were left understandably downtrodden, brought firmly back down to earth after a stellar opening to the term.

One individual, though, who refused to let the result get him down, was the aforementioned Hansi Flick.

Speaking to the media on the back of the full-time whistle at the Stade Louis II, Barca’s headmaster assured the club’s supporters that their collective objectives on the continent will still be met:

“We will still play a great Champions League. We have 7 matches to go. We will reach our objectives.”
