Hansi Flick speaks for the first time on Barcelona signing João Cancelo | OneFootball

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has on Tuesday spoken publicly for the first time regarding the return of João Cancelo to the club.

This of course comes fresh off the Portuguese’s Camp Nou comeback being widely confirmed last night.

Cancelo, who spent the 2023/24 campaign plying his trade in Blaugrana colours, is for his part all set to link back up with the reigning Spanish champions over the days ahead.

After Saudi outfit Al-Hilal made known that the 31-year-old was available on loan, Deco and the Barca brass swooped decisively to secure his signature.

Cancelo will provide much-needed depth and experience in the full-back positions in Catalunya’s capital.

Speaking to the media during his first press conference at the Spanish Super Cup this afternoon, the subject of the incoming reinforcements to his squad was therefore put to Hansi Flick.

And Barcelona’s headmaster went on to explain:

“João Cancelo? Deco, the staff and I discuss things a lot. João can play on both flanks. It’s for six months, it’s a good option, and he has a lot of quality.”
